Topps.com opened preorders today on 2025-26 Topps Chrome Black Basketball, the darkened Chrome Black treatment's first move into basketball after runs in baseball and football. Box configuration and base set size aren't out yet, so for now this is a preorder on name and format. If you collect the Chrome Black look, today is the first shot at the NBA version.

2026 Topps Tribute Baseball hits shelves tomorrow (presale opened June 29), 25 years after it launched as the first Topps product to guarantee a hit in every pack. The 100-card base set carries three autographs and three memorabilia cards per hobby box, plus a 20-card Barry Bonds Career Achievement Award subset and the returning Tribute To Topps, Pillars of the Game, and League Inauguration Autographs inserts. Preorders are open ahead of the July 29 street date.

Just Collect is offering a game ticket from Mickey Mantle's 500th career home run: May 14, 1967 at Yankee Stadium against the Orioles, graded PSA 4. PSA has slabbed only 44 tickets from that game, with three graded higher. It cost $3.50 in 1967 and now lists at $3,740. Mantle finished with 536 home runs, one of 28 players to ever reach 500.

Just Collect bought a 1959 Topps collection that a seller named Lee almost threw out while clearing a relative's belongings. It runs deep: Mantle, Aaron, Mays, Clemente, Koufax, and Frank Robinson, with Bob Gibson's rookie card (#514) singled out on the strength of his 1.12 ERA in 1968, a mark still unmatched 58 years later. The cards had been sitting in plastic Ziplock bags before Just Collect looked them over.

Authentication expert disputes a PSA-graded 1952 Bowman Mantle autograph

PSA graded the on-card signature on a 1952 Bowman Mickey Mantle an 8, and CEO Nat Turner said the company stands behind the autograph. Steve Grad, a former PSA authenticator with over 2,500 Mantle exemplars on file, put out an 18-minute video disputing it, pointing to the shape of the 'a' as unlike any known Mantle sample. Owner Barry Walner says he won't seek a second opinion. Rabbit Hole Auctions has the card set for its October 11 sale at a $100,000 estimate, with room toward $250,000-$500,000 if the signature holds up.
